GPI Illustrated #78: German Grand Prix Edition

Up until the 2013 German Grand Prix triple world champion Sebastian Vettel had never won a Formula 1 race on home soil. He un-jinxed himself with a fine performance on a hot afternoon at the Nurburgring and with it notched up his 30th win at the pinnacle of the sport.
Chasing hard all weekend were the Lotus pair of Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean, enjoying and making the most of the back to form E21. In the end it was Raikkonen who stalked the Red Bull driver doggedly, but the Iceman ran out of laps and second place was his reward for his role in a thrilling climax to an incident packed race.
Grosjean boosted his shares, which have been up and down since his return to F1 last year, with a mature drive to third place.
On the same weekend Mercedes went from hero to zero; McLaren looked a tad better than normal; Ferrari made some weird decisions; Red Bull crew messed up Mark Webber’s tyre stop and a cameraman nearly got killed in the process; a Marussia developed a mind of its own and went on a wander across the race track; Pirelli tyres behaved - it was an interesting round to the world championship and here we have the best pictures of that weekend. Enjoy
